Pythagorean vs Chaldean: why schools disagree

There is no single "correct" numerology. The two best-known systems assign numbers to letters differently, so they can hand the same name different results.

Two systems

The Pythagorean system maps letters in order (A=1…I=9, then cycling) and is the most common in the English-speaking world. The Chaldean system uses an older, sound-based mapping (and famously does not assign 9 to a letter). Same name, sometimes different numbers.
