What is a Life Path number?

The Life Path is the number most people mean when they say "my number". It comes from the birth date, not the name.

How it is calculated

You reduce the day, the month and the year to single digits, then add those together and reduce again — keeping master numbers (11, 22, 33) unreduced. Tradition treats the Life Path as the overall theme and style of a life.

A small honest note: schools mostly agree on the Life Path digit, but they differ on when to keep a master number. We show the methods side by side rather than pick for you.

How it is read

Each Life Path number carries the same traditional meaning as elsewhere — for instance a 1 is read as independence and initiative, a 7 as depth and reflection. And, as always, we show the shadow side too, not just the flattering part.
